Places
to Visit on the Net
By John Hunter
Got a sweet tooth? Want to relive luscious moments from
your youth? Want to share life experiences with your children or grandchildren?
Have I got a site for you!
has many of the cloyingly sweet candy treats that we remember from our
childhood and cant find any more. Remember going to the drive-in
movies and sucking on an Atomic Fire Ball for half of the first feature?
You can find fire balls here. Candy cigarettes and bubble gum cigars (probably
not politically correct in these times) are also sold at this site. Licorice
pipes, candy buttons on paper tape and wax lips, all available in quantity,
bring back sweet memories for me, and maybe for you as well.
While this site has many of the now endangered sweets, alas, not all of
the candy we remember as kids has survived. This is true of my personal
favorite, MARS BARS. MARS BARS are not available at the site. But those
of you who lovingly remember SKYBARS can order same. You may order 3lb.,
4lb., and 5lb. portions of the sugary morsels and risk diabetic shock.
Or, if you just cant decide what to buy from the list of more than
100 treats, there are a number of ways you can choose your indulgence.
The site features a "Candy you ate as a kid" assortment, or
you can personalize your choices by hitting the "Pack a bag"
option. For those wanting the perfect corporate gift for that special
client, the site offers a corporate gift option as well that will ship
directly to the recipient and enclose a message complete with your logo.
So, WALNETTO lovers, get to your computers and order away. Happy munching.
From sugary sweet to another sweet - jokes. For those of you who cannot
seem to live without a daily dose of humor, I recommend YAHOO.com.
YAHOO features a seemingly encyclopedic joke section. Go to YAHOO and
click on entertainment, then click on humor, and finally click on jokes.
You have many types of jokes to choose from. Bar jokes, blonde jokes,
dirty jokes, elephant jokes, jokes of the day and jokes of the week, lawyer
jokes, religious jokes, and Mommy jokes all have their individual sections
and selections. Each section gives the total number of jokes listed in
that category.
For the truly humor deprived, there is also a PUNS section. Go there if
you dare. The Bad puns category (where the pun never sets) starts off
this section. "Jest for puns" should be avoided for those who
truly hate groaners. Samples here include: "Families are like fudge.
Mostly sweet with a few nuts." Or, "Some people are wise, some
otherwise." You get the idea. You can even sign up to receive a joke
of the day and a pun of the day if you really feel brave. So, if you really
believe that, "Old hunters never die, they just stay loaded,"
or "Old programmers never die, they just lose their memory,"
or "Old gardeners never die, they just spade away," go to YAHOO.
See you next month.
