Thank you for electing me, once again, president of the Club. I hold the office with respect and aim always to serve the Club in a responsible and forward-looking manner. The Club's motto - members helping members - is basic to the functioning of our User Group. We see it in operation all the
time; I can name at least fourteen members (and you can probably name a few too) who are well known to help out others in PC needs. They're always willing to share information, to walk you through difficult problems. Many members have received hands-on help. The Club will continue to encourage members helping members with the latest technology in mind even as DOS and Windows 95 are being maintained.

The Club, then, will continue to alert you regarding cutting edge technology, the latest hardware new thing, the programs you think you got to have. Tim Clinehen's presentation at our last Tuesday meeting was fun, it was also informative about all those wonderful personal modifications you can consider when putting together a really neat machine. I can do without the open sided chassis, the exposed guts, the blue light that made it all look like an underwater shot of the Titanic. But I did like the pair
of monitors. Does anyone really need all that stuff? I don't think so, but they're awfully nice to have.

Tim's presentation put me in mind of other possible programs for the future. Do personal PC interests made public via Club presentations sound promising to you? We've done this before, perhaps we should expand on it? We will continue workshops on hardware, on specific programs to serve specific needs. How about forums or discussion groups about trends in the PC market, trends in the uses of the PC, trends in the hacker trade and how we can or cannot protect our privacy from the likes of Microsoft? What kinds of programs would you like your Club to promote? Your ideas are very welcome. Contact Bob or Donna or me. Make this Club work for you.
